viewsonic-logo-thumb.jpgWhen is a tablet not a tablet? When it’s a giant 22-inch Android powered monolith, headed your way courtesy of Viewsonic. They’re planning to reveal their VCD22 Android “Smart Display” at Computex in Taipei on June 5th.

Packing a full HD display, it wipes the floor with the previous largest tablet in terms of size, the comparatively diminutive 13-inch Toshiba Excite 13.

That’s if you can class it as a tablet at all; intended to be hooked up with a keyboard and mouse, this is more like a portable desktop all-in-one, sans stand.

Under the hood you’ll find a 1GHz dual-core processor from Texas Instruments, as well as a 1.2MP camera, microSD and micro HDMI ports as well as three USB slots.

“The best interactive media center for your money,” according to Viewsonic, it looks set to go head to head with the ASUS Transformer Pad, though it’s massive size should set it apart considerably.

No pricing announced yet to verify that value-for-money claim, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on how this slate turns out.
