android-instagram-page.jpgIf there’s one app that iPhone users always wave in the faces of their Android-backing rivals, it’s the hipster-friendly Instagram photography app, that adds “through-the-wash” filters and touch-up tools to be applied to your cameraphone snaps. Android users breathed a sigh of relief at SXSW earlier this month when the app’s co-founder, Kevin Systrom, revealed that the much-loved app was on its way to Google’s OS “soon”. And it now seems that “soon” is much sooner than we’d thought for.

Over the weekend Instagram launched a landing page allowing Android users to sign-up to be one of the first to test the new app when it finally arrives, suggesting the app is now approaching a full release.

No word yet as to whether signing up on the page will lead to early access for eager Android owners, or will just pop you onto a mailing list that will notify you of the apps availability, but Android photographers would do well to pop their details in either way.
