mass-effect-in-space.jpgIn what must be one of gaming’s most fitting promotional stunts of all time, EA are to launch copies of Mass Effect 3 out into space. An best of all, when the games come crashing down to Earth, they’ll be yours to keep.

Weather balloons carrying the game will be sent up beyond the clouds ahead of the game’s release, and are expected to crash land a week before the game goes on sale.

Mass Effect balloons will drift over New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, London, Paris and Berlin.

GPS tracking through the Mass Effect website will let anyone keep a track of where the games land, which could lead to a treasure hunt of intergalactic proportions.

Mass Effect 3 will hit stores on March 6th for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
