Samsung Galaxy S3 quad-core specs rumoured

Samsung’s Galaxy S II took the smartphone world by storm this year, impressing with its dual-core processor, slim frame and sweet Super-AMOLED display. As you’d imagine, Samsung have a successor in the pipeline, and the last few days have seen a few extra details on what to expect from the superphone sequel.

Expected to launch at Mobile World Congress 2012, sources close to Samsung have hinted at the inclusion of an Exynos 4412 chip, sporting quad-core architecture. Specs-wise, the 4412 is 32nm, with four ARM Cortex A9 cores running at 1.5GHz each.

It’s a “big step past the Galaxy Nexus class, in every way,” said the source, with the Exynos looking more than capable of holding its own against the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chips headed to HTC handsets next year.

Also rumoured for the S2 follow up is the Mali-T604 GPU. It’s capable of 5x the graphical performance of previous Mail chips, and makes good use of the all the power quad-core devices offer.
