iPhone-4s-hands-2.JPGFollowing complaints of falling battery performance after the installation of iOS 5 on iPhones, Apple are set to release an OS update to fix the problem.

iOS 5.0.1 is set to be released shortly, with Apple admitting they’ve found problems with the initial build of the revamped operating system which had been causing a dramatic drop in battery life.

“A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices,” said Apple in a statement to All Things D.

“We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.”

Battery performance wont be the only improvements coming to iOS 5.0.1. According to Apple Insider, the update also “fixes bugs affecting battery life, adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad, resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud, improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation, contains security improvements, iOS 5.0.1 beta introduces a new way for developers to specify files that should remain on device, even in low storage situations.”

Plenty of theories have been bandied about regarding the battery drop-off, with continually searching Wi-Fi connectivity and “Setting Time Zone” always-on functionality ousted as the main culprits.
