Circle of Life completed as The Lion King 3D hits Sky 3D service

hakuna.jpgDid you miss out on Disney’s recent 3D re-release of The Lion King in cinemas? Well, “Hakuna Matata” folks, no worries; Sky are to broadcast the flick in 3D just weeks after its silver screen showcasing.

Hitting the Sky 3D channel on November 27th, the 1994 classic was a roaring success in its third-dimensional form, raking in £137.3 million at the box office. seeing it jump ahead of inding Nemo, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Shrek 2 to sit snugly behind Toy Story 3 as the second highest grossing animated movie ever. When it comes to hand-drawn animated movies, it actually sits top of the pile in terms of box office receipts too.

The massive success of the re-release has seen Disney reveal plans to give other movies from their catalogue a 3D makeover too, with Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Pixar’s Finding Nemo all set for a 3D return to theatres.

Sky’s 3D channel is free to HD premium subscribers, and can be found at channel number 217.
