Sony hacks continue as Japanese and Greek music sites come under fire

sony-music-logo.jpgThe PS3’s PlayStation Network online service may be tentatively being restored to full working order, but Sony’s online woes continue as yet more of their services have been attacked this week.

The latest targets were the Sony Music Japan and Sony Music Greece pages, SonyMusic.co.jp and SonyMusic.gr respectively.

The attacks, though nowhere near as damaging as the PSN hack that caused the online gaming service to go down for almost a month and compromise millions of users’ data, still rubs salt into Sony’s very fresh security wounds. Using an SQL injection technique to fiddle with the page’s content, this attack seems aimed at leaving Sony with more egg on the company’s face; one hacker even tweaked the page’s source code so that it read, “This isn’t a l337 h4x0r, we just want to embarrass Sony some more.”

While the implications for Sony customers aren’t as damaging here, it does show that Sony have more than one leak to plug in their online ship. Admitting yesterday that the recent hacks have cost the company some $100 million, that cost could rise if they don’t quickly quell the tide of attacks heading their way.
