A second cyber attack has hit Sony’s online networks in the space of a fortnight. Now a further 25 million users’ personal details may have been stolen, as Sony have revealed that their Sony Online Entertainment PC games network has also had its security breached.

Sony Online Entertainment PC games division is responsible for players of EverQuest, Free Realms and DC Universe Online, whose names, addresses, emails, birth dates, and telephone numbers have all been stolen by an online intruder at some point between April 17th and 19th. Credit card details were also accessed, but the three digit security code linked to each individual card was not compromised.

“We had previously believed that SOE customer data had not been obtained in the cyber-attacks on the company, but on May 1 we concluded that SOE account information may have been stolen and we are notifying you as soon as possible,” Sony have now revealed.

The breach follows a recent attack on the PSN service, in which a further 77 million users’ details were accessed.
