APP OF THE DAY: Music Hunter (iPad)

music-hunter.jpgThe iTunes store is a vast repository of musical goodness, but sometimes its recommendations for new music can be a bit rubbish. Music Hunter is an excellent new iPad app from We Are Hunted (who have an equally great website) designed to help you discover great new music, and letting you quickly snap it up from Apple’s catalouge of tunes.

With a colourful visual artwork-grid layout, the app makes intelligent recomendations based on music that you like, with relevant artists appearing that (whether this be the case or not) seem genuinely hand picked rather than working from reams of meta data.

All tastes are catered for, from jazz to indie, through to electro, blues and classical, while superstars and rising-stars alike are all avialable for a quick browse.

You’re given a 30 to 60 second clip of each artist’s selection of preview songs, which can be shared via Twitter or Facebook, seamlessly flowing into the next track lined up to give you a quick taste of an artist’s repitore. Then, if you like what you hear, you can jump straight to the relevant iTunes download page and grab the entire song.

Click here to give it a whirl.
