Advent Vega tablet gets unofficial Honeycomb update

The Advent Vega budget Android tablet is expected to get an official Honeycomb update at some point soon, bringing its Android 2.2 OS into the major leagues with Google’s tablet-optimised software.

However, tech heads have never been known for their patience, and a plucky set of tinkerers have already put together a working build of Honeycomb for the tablet. Though a very early alpha build (with major features such as Wi-Fi still not working), we’re still getting hardware acceleration and the OS’s tweaked interface.

Considering so far only the fairly-expensive Motorola XOOM is available in the UK with the tablet-orientated build, we’ll be closely following developments with the Advent Vega.
