Google launches 'Personal Profiles' – stand against Facebook?
Google’s new ‘Personal Profiles’ features lets all Gmail users set up a page with pictures and personal information. This will likely be the first entry that comes up when someone searches for your name, Google’s Greg Marra wrote on the Google blog.
This is not a bad idea in a time when your Google footprint can sometimes be more important than your CV. This tool can help you take back some of the control over what the internet has to say about you.
The profiles lets you add a personal statement, work and education details, photos and links to blogs, Twitter or You Tube … Facebook is not listed among the suggestions. And looking at it, where have we seen this layout before?
Facebook has just bought mobile outfit Beluga, while Google recently announced it would not allow automatic Facebook data syncing on its newest Nexus One and Nexus S handsets. Sounds like new battle lines are being drawn every day.

This is a smart blog. I mean it. You have so much knowledge about this issue, and so much passion. You also know how to make people rally behind it, obviously from the responses.
Even I have Google profile. One can easily search me on Google. It is better than facebook.
Its silly they are even trying this to be honest, they will never be what facebook represent to everyone
Are Google trying to copy the Facebook layout with their personal profiles as it looks very similar? Google is facing a hard task in order to break the dominance set by Facebook in the social networking world.
