Facebook profile pages to get a makeover

Facebook boss has previewed the social network’s new-look profile pages during a guest spot on US talk show 60 Minutes.

The changes aim to put all the most frequently accessed information on a profile page in one place, without having to click through to photo albums, wall comments and other features.

Instead, each user will find a new “bio” section at the top of their profiles, giving quick info on a user and their current status, as well as a photo stream of recently uploaded snaps and tagged pictures.

The relationship section will also get an overhaul, showing how your friendship with indviduals has grown on the site since adding them to your list of pals.

“You can see all the things that you have in common with that person,” Zuckerberg told show host Lesley Stahl. “It gives you this amazing connection with that person in a way that the current version of the profile that we have today just doesn’t do.”

The updated profile pages will be rolled out automatically by early 2011, but eager Facebook fans can sign up to trial the new style by clicking here.
