Though the Nintendo Wii had much of its thunder stolen this year by the motion control releases of the PS3 Move and Xbox 360 Kinect, it was actually perhaps its finest year for games.

Though often considered a “kiddie” console, the Wii had plenty of stuff to keep even the most hardcore of gamer happy this past 12 months. From the 3D return of Super Mario in Super Mario Galaxy 2 to Samus Aran in Metroid: Other M, it was an all-star turn out from some of Nintendo’s leading lights. There was even the introduction of the Motion Plus add-on, making movement tracking of the Wii remote that bit more accurate.

With the festive season fast approaching, we thought we’d put together a guide on what Wii goodies should be topping your Christmas list. It’s worth noting that the release of Kirby’s Epic Yarn was just a little too late to make it into this guide, but it’s looking like a great title, and one definitely worth keeping an eye out for in the new year.

So, in no particular order, here’s Tech Digest’s guide to all things Wii this Christmas.
