The popular mobile app game, Angry Birds, is about to make the jump to big-boy consoles, as developers Rovio confirmed that Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii versions are in the works.

CEO Peter Vesterbacka confirmed that 2011 would be the year the birds would take on the pigs on big screens, as well as the launch of a sequel to the smartphone versions.

With the iPad showing the game would work well with multiplayer elements, the game is expected to feature Worms-style showdowns when it hits consoles.

Single-player fans of Angry Birds beware however: Verseterback has warned that “the pigs will be a lot more active than just being slingshotted at by birds.”
