Three have just announced that they too will be selling Samsung’s Galaxy Tab tablet device through their stores and have given data prices for the device. Alas there’s still no price for the gadget – we have heard everything from £300-600.

Nigel Field, Director of Devices at Three said, “With both the Android and tablet markets going from strength to strength, we’re proud to be ranging the Samsung GALAXY Tab. More than 97% of Three traffic over the network is data, so more than ever consumers need to make sure they’re on a network that can cope with the demand when buying mobile Internet devices like tablets. With both SIM and Wi-Fi connectivity, Samsung GALAXY Tab users on Three can get the most out of the product knowing they’re with the UK’s number one mobile broadband provider.”

The Samsung GALAXY Tab will be available on SIM-only one month rolling voice and data contracts. The SIM10 plan costs £10 a month and includes 100 any network minutes, 2000 Three-to-Three minutes, 3000 texts and 1GB data, whilst the SIM15 plan will set you back £15 a month including 300 any network minutes, 2000 Three-to-Three minutes, 3000 texts and 1GB data.

The 7 inch touchscreen Android 2.2 Froyo device took pride of place during Samsung’s IFA press conference last week. Running at a 1024 x 600 resolution on a TFT-LCD screen, the Galaxy Tab has all the bells and whistles of a regular smartphone too (calls, texts, MMS etc), except for the fact it isn’t going to fit all that well in your trouser pockets.

It’s a pretty snappy piece of kit on the specs side too. A Cortex A8 1GHz processor is running the show, with 512 MB of RAM, 3G HSDPA, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 as well as a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and 3 megapixel regular snapper on the back. The tablet will be availble in two sizes, 16 and 32 GB, expandable by a further 32 GB with memory cards. You’ll also be able to squeeze around 7 hours worth of life out of its 400mAh battery.

Vodafone have also been announced as the first carrier for the device, with Patrick Chomet saying, “Adding tablets as part of our device range is a natural next step that gives customers an alternative way to enjoy great content and internet services. The Galaxy Tab is another showcase for Samsung’s innovation capabilities and we’re pleased to be introducing this across a number of our markets”.
