nokia.jpgThe Nokia World 2010 conference kicked off in London’s Excel Centre this morning with a keynote speech from executive vice president Niklas Savander. He was on boisterous form declaring that “Nokia is back”, and out to claim the smarphone throne.

The key focus today was Nokia’s new smartphone range, including the E7 business orientated phone, the C6 and C7 models, as well as the previously announced N8 flagship model.

“Today we shift into high-gear in Nokia’s smartphone fight-back” announced Savander. “We’ll continue to push smartphone features around the world; everyone deserves to be able to easily connect to the internet and enjoy modern smartphone features.”

Though Nokia so far haven’t quite caught the public’s imagination with their smartphone ranges, Savander was optimistic in his estimations for the new range.

“They perform day in, day out, no matter how you hold them”, he said in an obvious dig at Apple, before revealing that Nokia are aiming for 50 million sales of the new devices, with already 100 worldwide carriers in line to sell them.

260,000 Nokia smartphones are already bought every single day.
