Gmail gets drag-and-drop attachment save function

gmail logo.jpgPeople who use Google’s Gmail email service through their Chrome browser will wake to find that they can now save attachments simply by dragging them to their desktops or folders.

Hovering over the attachment icon reveals the new function, which also allows you to drop the attachment onto the Windows 7 taskbar or “Show Desktop” icon, should you be using Chrome in full-screen.

Gmail already allows its users to drag-and-drop attachments into an email to be sent, as well as dragging images into the body of your email’s text.

Google are also gradually rolling out the ability to sign into multiple accounts at once, a feature set to work across their Gmail, Calendar, Sites, Reader, Code and Voice apps.

“If you use multiple sign-in, the first account you use to sign in during that browser session will be your default account  for the rest of that session” says the Google Help Centre. “If you visit other Google products that don’t support multiple accounts after you’ve signed in, you will automatically sign in to your default account for that product. If you sign out of any Google product while signed in to any account, you will be signed out of all your Google Accounts at once.”

  • I cannot see anything! If I press the switch to take a snap, it again takes over a minute for the clicking sound and then a couple of mintues for the phone to tell me that the photo cannot be saved.

  • I can open my Yahoo! mail but not any attachments. Also, I cannot send any mail from the Yahoo! account through the phone. This, however, doesn’t happen when I open the Gmail account, through which I can view attachments as also send out mails.

  • I actually didn’t realize you could drap N drop files right into Gmail that way. I use chrome, but I still do the old fashion explore and upload feature. Wudda know, always something new.

  • I can take, what mode it is in, etc., the whole screen is blank. I cannot see anything! If I press the switch to take a snap, it again takes over a minute for the clicking sound and then a couple of mintues for the phone to tell me that the photo cannot be saved.

  • I am facing 2 problems with my i-mate Jam phone.
    1. The first has to do with the camera function. I press the button for camera (on the left side), and it takes as much as a minute to open the window for taking pictures. Once open, while I can see details of how many pictures I can take, what mode it is in, etc., the whole screen is blank. I cannot see anything! If I press the switch to take a snap, it again takes over a minute for the clicking sound and then a couple of mintues for the phone to tell me that the photo cannot be saved.
    2. The second problem is with Yahoo! mail. I can open my Yahoo! mail but not any attachments. Also, I cannot send any mail from the Yahoo! account through the phone. This, however, doesn’t happen when I open the GMail account, through which I can view attachments as also send out mails.
    Can someone please help me?
    Thanks.
