tesco mobile 12 months.jpgIn the fast moving world of mobile tech, a year can be a very, very long time. A 24 month contract may work out well for the networks, keeping your money regularly going into their coffers, but that length of time can make your once blinging handset look like a brick in comparison to newer rivals.

According to Tesco’s research, a whopping 48% of people on an 18 or 24 month contract jump ship and spend between £40 and £100 on the new hardware because they cannot wait until their contract renewal date.

Tesco Mobile have recognised this problem, and are set to launch a new range of 12 month contracts to offer more flexibility to their customers.

David Taylor, Chief Operating Officer of Tesco Telecoms and Tesco Mobile said:

“There needs to be more choice in the market when it comes to mobile contracts.18 and 24 month contracts are great for some people, especially when it comes to high spec smart phones, but financial uncertainty and rapidly advancing technology means that there are a lot of people who don’t want to be tied to their mobile.

“Tesco Mobile prides itself on customer service and by responding to consumer needs and we hope this move will shake up the market and give choice back to the consumer by winning back the space for 12 month contracts.”
