Xperia X8.jpgSony Ericsson are to add a brand new budget Android handset to their Xperia line. The new X8 phone looks set to offer smartphone tech for those on a too tight a budget to splash out on Sony Ericsson’s X10 model.

It’s certainly not the most souped-up handset out there, featuring a 3.2 megapixel camera and a 3 inch screen with a HVGA (320 x 480) resolution. It’s notably bigger than the X10 Mini, though isn’t quite it’s match in terms of specs.

It does however feature the Timescape app that collects together all your Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as the screen corner “hot-pocket” controls for shortcuts to certain functions.

Available in white, blue, pink or silver, it’ll be running the now-dated Android version 1.6. Still, one to consider if the money is tight come the third-quarter of the year.
