moses iphone.jpgA new survey of 4,000 Brits has revealed that the iPhone is now considered one of the best inventions of all time.

Rushing into the 8th spot of 100, it sits just ahead of the flushing toilet and the combustion engine.

“All of the inventions included in this list have changed the world forever. Whether it be something as small as a paper clip, to something which changed the face of the universe like the combustion engine, these amazing feats have all been recognized as truly great,” said Lance Batchelor, Chief Executive Officer of Tesco Telecoms and Tesco Mobile.

“It’s amazing to see how much the iPhone is valued, sitting alongside inventions such as Penicillin in people’s perceptions and being declared a more important invention than miracle gadgets of their own time, such as the compass.”

The research also found that more than half (66%) of Britons feel lost without their mobile phones handy, with a quarter would admitting to being addicted to the device.

All well and good, but I know out of a toilet and a smartphone which one I really couldn’t live without.

The top 10 in full is as follows:

1.Wheel
2.Aeroplane
3.Light bulb
4.Internet
5.PCs
6.Telephone
7.Penicillin
8.iPhone
9.Flushing toilet
10.Combustion engine
