BlackBerry 9670 Clamshell spotted, running BlackBerry 6 OS

Blackberry 9670.pngIt may not be the first BlackBerry clamshell phone (that somewhat dubious title goes to the Kickstart), but the BlackBerry 9670 does have one ace up its sleeve; the BlackBerry 6 OS.

As well as the spruced up OS, these latest leaked shots show the 9670 is also the first BlackBerry clamshell to feature a full QWERTY keypad, something even the SureType-packing Blackberry Pearl 3G cant offer.

Other features are said to include a 5MP camera and dual screens, a main one on the inside at a resolution of 480×360 and another smaller quick-info screen on the outer closed side of the clamshell.

No word on a release date yet, or even if it will reach UK shores, but considering the BlackBerry 6 OS isn’t due until Q3 of 2010, you’d have to imagine it’ll be sometime after that.

We have to admit it’s pretty ugly, but clamshell phones still sell surprisingly well, especially in the US apparently.
