After a decade of waiting, Capcom have today finally revealed Marvel vs Capcom 3, the sequel to arguably one of the best fighting games of all time.

Mashing together all your favourite characters from both the Capcom gaming and Marvel comic universes, the team based brawler will be released in the Spring of 2011.

“We are so pleased to be working with Marvel again. Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has been one of the most requested titles for us to produce by our fans,” said Christian Svensson, Corporate Officer and Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development at Capcom. “Our Capcom development studio is creating the most epic fighting game ever developed and Marvel’s input into that process has been invaluable.”

The above trailer reveals a few familiar faces, likely to appear in the game: Street Fighter’s Ryu, Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield, Wolverine of the X-Men, the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man, whilst Spiderman and Magneto have all also been previously rumoured to feature.

While little else is known at this stage, many are expecting the game to run on the impressive engine first used by Capcom for Street Fighter IV.

Showing my geek credentials here, but to say I’m excited is an understatement.
