Eye-Fi X2.jpgYou may have heard of the Eye-Fi range of wireless memory cards; featuring an “endless memory” mode, they automatically back-up your digital camera photos and videos online when you’re in range of a wi-fi network, meaning you should never run out of storage space.

Now officially launched in the UK, the Eye-Fi cards have become even more attractive with the news that they can now access hundreds of thousands of open wi-fi hotspots worldwide.

If you have a hot-spot subscription to providers such as Boingo, BT Openzone, T-Mobile, SFR, Orange and Vodafone, adding those services to Eye-Fi owners accounts means these hotspots can be automatically used to upload files whilst out and about. This has been made possible as the cards can now navigate through splash screens.

Students with Eye-Fi cards also get some handy features. University networks are now also supported by the cards, just by adding their credentials to the connected card account.

“Digital photography lets us capture the moments of our lives, wherever we are,” said Jef Holove, CEO of Eye-Fi. “Now we can enable our users around the world to back-up and share these memories from anywhere, whether traveling abroad or out running errands.”
