ps3-slim.jpgSony have confirmed that the next PlayStation 3 firmware update (v3.10) will feature Facebook support. The news comes hot on the heels of Facebook’s integration with the Xbox 360, which went live today.

According to the PlayStation blog, “By linking your PlayStation Network account to your Facebook account, you will have the option for the PS3 to automatically update your Facebook News Feed with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity”.

It continues, “This update also enables developers to set specific criteria in their titles to publish additional game information to your News Feed. You can then check out your updates, and those of your friends, on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media favourites through the PS3’s built-in web browser”.

Though users cannot update statuses and post on Facebook walls as yet with the update, these early moves at social-network integration hint at big things to come from Sony.

Other features set to be included in v3.10 include a revamped Photo category on the Xross Media Bar and an improved friends list.

The firmware update will be made available on November 19th.
