Portable turntable means DJs have no excuse not to join the party

I’ve done a little DJing before, and while it’s always more fun to be a little distanced from the dancefloor, you do feel like you’re missing something when you’re removed from the party. If only there was some kind of portable turntable so that you were free to move as you pleased. Well wish no more, as some genius has developed the scratchophone!

It may look like a hollowed out conga drum, but hidden about the device is a turntable, tonearm, mixer, speakers and a rechargeable battery. Basically everything you need to do some improptu DJing wherever you are – provided people aren’t bothered by you carrying around a hollowed out conga drum around your way. I’m not sure I’d get away with it.

And the price? Well, a slightly prohibitive $1,617, but the website does allow you to buy it in kit-form to get just the parts you’re missing. Though the basic drum alone will cost you $160.

But surely bringing as much joy to the world as the chap in the video below is doing makes it a bargain at twice the price?
