Is there any point in making an official announcement about a sequel when you’ve already told people the series will be a trilogy, and when have already released a teaser trailer? Probably not, but at least it gives me a bit more gaming news to write about, so it’s with some pleasure that I can officially announce a sequel to Mass Effect is in the works for release in 2010.

And unfortunately, that’s about all we know at this point which again brings into question to point of making an official announcement. Once again it will be heading to Xbox 360 and PC with no sign of a Playstation 3 version in the works at all. It’ll be another action-RPG romp from Bioware, and the developers have suggested that you’ll want to hold onto your saved game from the original game as choices you made back then could effect how the sequel plays out.

Exciting stuff – it’s always nice when developers do things like that. Except when FIFA 09 took one look at my FIFA 08 saved game and made an insulting judgement at what level I should be playing the game at.
