All-in-one computers have nothing if not sex appeal and although the Dell Studio One 19 might be a little more disappointing than, say, the Asus Eee Top outside a club and in the light of day, it’s still the kind of machine you’d happily have atop your table.

The good news today is that not only do we have a release date – 24th April – but it’s also going to be one hell of a lot cheaper than we thought at a near giveaway of £579.

As with most Dells, the specs are pretty much up to you but the standards are a slot loading optical drive, 7-in-1 card reader and six USB ports. Multi-touch seems to be an upgrade and probably well worth while if you’re going to the trouble of buying a touchscreen computer in the first place.

Other choices are between Dual Core, Core 2 Duo, and Core 2 Quad Core Intel CPUs and whether you want the nVidia GeForce 9200 or GeForce 9400 graphics cards.

By the time you’ve suped it up to the full 4GB of RAM, 640GB HDD and integrated webcam, the price is probably pushing £1,000 and you might start wondering why you haven’t bought traditional desktop. The answer will come flooding back as you finger flick through all your photos and play with the You Paint software, and before you know it you’ll have forgotten all about the outlay.

I do like a good all-in-one and this 19″ model from Dell certainly looks like it would put a smile on my face, and that of my imaginary wife and two children.
