pocketpcimage.jpgWith a mobile phone stolen every twelve seconds in the UK (presumably not the same mobile phone), there’s every need for services that can stop handsets being used if they go astray.

StopThief is a new application from mobile security firm UMU that will block the use of a smartphone if it falls into the wrong hands.

Features include the ability to remotely lock and wipe the mobile, SIM card change lock, and low battery usage.

It currently works on Symbian OS Series 60 and Windows Mobile phones, which is a fairly large section of handsets, and costs £9.95. It’s not the only solution on the market but is a fairly cost-effective way of protecting your phone and its data.

Available from UMU Global
