LaCie Flat Cables – geeky designer joy for tech heads far and wide

Lacie-flat-cables.jpgLovely bit of design this – how to make something ugly like cables into something actually desirable. Good job LaCie and their Flat Cables.

The idea is that they not only look pretty but their flat nature means that they’re easy to coil up and carry about, and that you never have to deal with a nest of tangled wires again. Now, I’m not convinced that the LaCie Flat Cables totally solve this last problem but I can certainly see that they make a difference.

Each one will cost you $12.99 and they’re colour specific according to which of the seven different cable types you’re after – USB A to B; USB A to Mini B; USB A male to A female; FireWire 400 to FireWire 400; FireWire 400 to FireWire 800; FireWire 800 to FireWire 800; and eSATA to eSATA.

You also get a pack of 24 adhesive labels so you can mark each one to tell exactly what you’re about to unplug, but then are you really going to be that organised?
