sharp-aquos-46-inch-65de-lcd-hdtv.jpgSharp has added another size to its range of D65 high definition LCD TVs. The 46 inch version, the largest yet released, features a full 1080p panel, 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 450cd/m2 brightness, and a reasonable 6ms response time.

Three HDMI inputs will enable you to connect up all your high-def gear, and there’s a built-in Freeview digital tuner plus two SCART ports for connecting other equipment and a USB slot for memory sticks or cameras.

Featuring two 10W speakers, the set shouldn’t embarrass itself if you don’t plan on hooking it up to an audio system. Sound features include automatic volume control and clear voice technology.

It’s decked out in piano black and the screen can be viewed at up to 176 degrees. It’s also fairly energy efficient and has earned an Energy Saving Recommended badge for its low standby power usage and energy-saving mode.

Available now priced £999.

Moving on, the BD-HP21H Blu-ray player features full 1080p playback including 24fps film mode, plus upscaling for standard definition DVDs.

Sharp has decided to skip the interactive features of Blu-ray Profile 2.0, and instead has simply made the player 1.1 compliant. This means that you won’t be able to use BD-Live on compatible discs, but will get to use picture-in-picture and simultaneous play.

Start-up time is an improved ten seconds from standby mode, and the whole unit is finished in piano black. It also has AQUOS LINK which means it works seamlessly with other Sharp AV gear from just one remote control.

Available now priced around £249.
