“Autumn Fantasy 2008” sounds like a porn film, but in actual fact, it’s the name of a concert that’ll be taking place between Oct 11th and 21st in Kanagawa Science Park in Kawasaki, Japan. The system uses 64 speakers to replace the 64 musicians in an orchestra, and each speaker plays just one instrument.

It’s actually the second concert that Lead Sound Co, who created the system, have put on. The first was held last Christmas, but they’ve composed entirely new pieces for the “orchestra” to play at this concert. Each instrument’s speaker is placed in the location that it would be placed in a real orchestra, and people can walk around and through the orchestra to see what it would sound like to walk within a real orchestra during a performance.
