I know what you’re thinking: “I’d really like a Macbook Air, but they’re just too expensive and not brown enough. Well now you can have the next best thing: an Asus Eee PC that looks a bit like a Macbook Air, and several hundred pounds spare to wrap around it.

The Asus S101 (note the lack of “Eee”) has quite a lot packed into its small size – it has a footprint of only 264mm by 180.5mm, and is only between 18 and 25mm tall, yet manages to pack in 3 USB ports, a 4-in-1 card reader, a VGA port, 802.11n wifi, bluetooth 2.0, ethernet, 1GB of RAM, an Intel Atom processor and a 10.2″ widescreen monitor.

Like most Asus products, there’s a range of options available in terms of storage space and operating system. The S101 with a 16GB SSD and XP will set you back $699 – though the same price will get you a 32GB SSD and Linux (presumably Xandros), and $799 will get you a 64GB SSD running Linux.

Colours wise it will be available in “Champagne”, “Graphite”, or… “Brown”.
