popcap.jpgPopCap Games, the company behind addictive flash games like Bejewelled and Zuma has launched a mobile site to sell games for download directly to mobile phones. Already responsible for many lost hours I’ve spent playing Bejewelled on MSN Messenger, the company is hoping that people will pay a fiver a time to get the games on their phones too.

The website, m.popcap.com is apparently a reaction to the 25% growth mobile internet usage, and presumably mobile internet speeds actually becoming tolerable with the growth of 3G access.

Whilst this won’t be new to iPhone users, as PopCap games have been available from the App Store for some time, it does mean that those of us with less impressive phones and an irrational desire to match coloured gems can get our fix. The games currently available are Zuma, Bejewelled, Bookworm and Chuzzle. The best bit? On your phone, you don’t have to quickly pause and minimise them if your boss comes walking past.
