PC World launches low-energy Advent Eco PC with decent specs
PC World has announced the launch of its new Advent Eco PC, a desktop computer which uses just 25 watts of power, yet hasn’t skimped on specs.
It has a T5250 Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, DVD writer, four USBs and a DVI output, wireless keyboard, and built-in Wi-Fi (hence the big antenna sticking out of the back).
It features a fan-less self-cooling system, and additionally, 75% of the Eco PC is made from recycled materials. It’s assembled in the UK and comes in minimal packaging.
The PC is good enough to have been recognised by the Energy Saving Trust, with Adrian Arnold, a representative, saying, “We applaud the development of this low energy-consuming PC as this is a means for all of us to save energy and money at home. Many of us do not realise that our home computers use more than twice the energy compared with the new PC World product with the attendant saving on energy bills.”
It can be bundled with a 19-inch widescreen monitor, though it’s not clear if this is an eco-friendly model.
