PURE launches "One Elite" DAB/FM radio

PURE has announced its most affordable stereo hybrid radio to date. The One Elite has both analogue FM and DAB radio tuners, and costs just £69.99.

Key features include pausing and rewinding live radio for up to 15 minutes, pausing and control of broadcast scrolling text, radio alarm, RDS support, auxiliary input for adding an iPod or other audio device, 50 tuner presets, and optional ChargePAK which gives around 35 hours of portable use.

The One Elite is available now in both black and white casing.

  • Re Pure One Elite DAB Radio: I read a customer review that claimed the twin speakers offer only mono sound. Is this correct? and how would that affect playback using a stereo MP3 player?

    • I’d be surprised, Colin. The official product page claims that the radio outputs stereo sound, though you may be hard pushed to notice that on such a small unit.

      If, however, it did output monaurally, I’d expect it to combine a stereo signal (as it would get from FM or DAB radio, or an iPod) into a single channel. It’s possible, but highly unlikely, that it would only output sound recorded on the left channel, in which case you’d potentially lose some sound/depth. However, this is very unlikely as it’s supposed to be a stereo set.

      The mixing of stereo into mono is probably how PURE will handle such audio when playing on some of its single-speaker systems.
