Blinkx Remote internet television launches beta today

blinkx-tv.jpgA new internet television service launches today to bring your favourite transmissions directly to a computer screen near you with the minimal amount if fuss. Blinkx Remote is currently in beta but the public are invited to navigate on by, search for a show from Channel 4, Five or any of the BBC and ITV channels, and sit back and relax while maintaining a puzzled look so as to convince everyone at work that you’re mulling over some spreadsheet or other.

Blinkx has indexed more than 26 million hours of audio, video, viral and TV content, although currently there doesn’t appear to be a whole lot available. Essentially, Blinkx Remote acts as a portal for the content and, at the moment, a large amount of the search results just send you off to iPlayer which most of us already know how to do, much to the flowing tears of UK ISPs.

Bear in mind, though, that this is only a beta just now. The interface is good, clear, simple and very effective and if they can match a depth of content to go with it, there’s no reason why it won’t be a success.

Blinkx Remote doesn’t provide anything particularly new. There are plenty of places out there to watch TV online but it does aggregate it all quite nicely and in an entirely legal way, if that kind of thing bothers you.

Duck in for a quick look now, forget about it for 6 months and then come back and see how they’re catalogue’s getting on.
