greenpeace-games-console-bromine-hazardous-death-trap.JPGThe leaf-strokers and mushroom-worriers at Greenpeace have released another of their NAME AND SHAME press releases, this time focussing on the top three video game consoles.

Xbox 360, Wii and PS3 are all RAMMED with DEADLY CHEMICALS that are POISONOUS and BAD FOR YOU, according to the report, which points out that safe alternatives are available.

Xbox 360 seems to come off worse – it contains a “phthalate” (a chemical used to make plastics) called DiNP which is already banned from being used in toys for kids in the EU. It’s only banned from toys that could possibly fit in a child’s mouth, though, so unless you routinely suckle on your Xbox 360 there’s no need to be overly concerned.

PS3 and Wii are both also ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS, coming packed with DEADLY bromine….

“Whether game consoles are classified as toys or not, they can still contain hazardous chemicals and materials that could harm humans. The technology is available for the manufacturers to design out toxics and produce greener game consoles now,” said Dr. Kevin Brigden from Greenpeace’s Science Unit.

Forget GTA IV ruining our minds – think of the damage today’s games machines will do when they all hit landfill sites in 10 years time. Or just forget about it and go back to GTA. Ten years is ages away. The scientists will have solved every problem in the world by then, and we’ll be living on the Martian Colonies as Earth rots away.

  • Greenpeace should stick to saving whales and stop this kind of crap, they are currently helping the government collect their carbon taxes by pushing it’s man made global warming SCAM, renamed “climate change” since the earth started cooling.

  • Hmmmm, so the xbox360 and ps3 contain phthalates that may harm sexual development if your baby chews on your game console. But hey, let them have soy formula which contains tons of phthalates but there is never any “conclusive” evidence that they do any harm. Tossers.

  • Yeah so are computers,tv’s etc.Greenpeace should stop using them.I wonder how many toxic chemicals their ships have, alot.Back to rowboats greenpeace.

  • Yeah, its true that they can harm humans…but we arent going to eat the consoles, nor let our babies go and lick them. oh yeah, maybe that kid will just eat my ps3….yeah im afraid of that. It is harmful to the environment at the end of its lifecycle, not to humans. Well you could say to humans as well, but inderectly. Like the article says, the 360 wont kill me unless i suckle on it. which im pretty sure im not going to….greenpeace..bah bunch of paranoid nuts. when it coems to stuff like this.
