The Sims Online closes – as new MMORPG Stargate Worlds opens its beta

sims-online-closes-stargate-worlds-opens.jpgThere probably isn’t that much of a crossover between The Sims Online (recently renamed the beyond abysmal “EA-Land”) players and those keen on signing up to a beta test of new MMORPG Stargate Worlds, but you never know.

EA announced the closure of EA-Land this week, to the sadness of the few young girls and odd men who are still hanging in there. The doors on the once-promising Sims Online universe will close forever on August 1, 2008.

But, as in nature, one death is always replaced by a new, glorious birth! Publisher FireSky has announced that preliminary registration for its beta test of MMO Stargate Worlds has “gone live” this week. The two developments are not really linked, we’re just saving you having to read two separate stories about MMORPGs today by combining them here.

So, as the leaves fall dead from the trees, so the new seeds germinate in the soil below to one day replace them. As in life, as in the world of MMO gaming.

  • I really very like the images you have used, very interactive and highly attractive site and more over the information you shared is the best part.

  • Even though I found it not warm enough for 15F, I had to wear few layers underneath, my boyfriend found it fine. We found it is very convenient when we go outdoors.
Do you want to go outdoors in puma shoes summer.p

  • To suggest that a memorial is the equivalent of litter is deeply insulting. The next suggestion will be to clear out Highgate cemetery and turn it into a picnic area! Sorry! but I have no time for such interfering balmain busybodies and, in my view.

  • Not surprisingly the issue has air max sparked a lively debate on the TGO Live Letters section of the forum with some forthright views being expressed.

  • The SIMS Online was without doubt the worst online game I’ve ever played (which means since 1988 – yes even worse than the MUDS of that era). I was amazed at how incompetently designed and programmed The SIMS Online was. Can you imagine designing a click per move game after games like EQ1, DAoC, AO, SWG etc., had already become popular? It seemed to have intentions towards becoming the kind of game that Second Life is today but it never succeeded. The one good thing about The SIMS Online as that if you did not like it you could send it back for a refund – which I did. EA must have lost thousands on the refund deal! For those still playing the SIMS Online I’m sure that Second Life will be a good new online home.
