Tech_Digest_Mountbatten.jpgYes, it’s true! Tech Digest is recruiting a new editor (steel yourselves, people, your beloved editor, Kat, is moving on to pastures new). We’re looking for a tech-loving web-head who knows and loves Tech Digest, who understands all kinds of geekery, and who feels an overwhelming urge to write funny and irreverent (but at the same time, intelligent) posts all day long. If you think that you’d make a great editor for Shiny Media’s oldest and biggest blog, see overleaf for details of how to bring yourself to our attention. You’ll be following in the illustrious footsteps of Stuart Dredge, Dave Walker, Al Warmington, Katherine Hannaford, Ashley Norris, and… err… me.

Shiny Media is looking for a technology editor for its flagship gadget site, Tech Digest (www.techdigest.tv) which gets nearly 400,000 unique users a month. Applicants must have previous experience of editing an online magazine and an in-depth knowledge of the world of technology.

You’ll need be familiar with Movable Type, Photoshop, Adobe Premier Elements (or other photo and video editing software). A firm understanding of how to work with online communities, including social networking sites and social bookmarking sites is vital, and you’ll be expected to keep up to date with all developments in Web 2.0 technologies.

We’re looking for someone capable of managing writers, commissioning pieces and writing intelligent, funny copy for a fast-paced technology blog. You’ll also need to be comfortable in front of a camera and have an understanding of how to edit videos and upload content to a variety of sites.

You’ll be working from our central London offices in Covent Garden, with a group of young, talented bloggers and writers for one of the fastest growing and exciting online publishing companies in the UK.

Applicants should be educated to degree level. A journalism qualification is highly desirable.

Please send your CV to Katie Lee (katie[at]shinymedia.com) along with a covering email telling us more about yourself. Please also include your blog address (if you have one) and some samples of your work. Salary details available on request.

Please have all entries in to me by 6th June – we need to get cracking.

Katie

  • This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. Thanks.
