samsung-l870.jpgI find it hard to leap with excitement when people talk about the Safari browser but I suppose when it’s on a mobile phone I should show some appreciation. Hurray. Was that enough?

It seems that Samsung has struck a deal with them at Apple to launch phones with Safari for easier surfing on the infoblob and this has been heralded by the announcement of the Samsung L870 steel slidephone today.

It’s the first non-Apple to be adorned with the Jobs home brand browser and comes with a 3-megapixel camera, a 2.2″ QVGA screen, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, FM Radio – if you really must – 100MB of internal memory and a microSD slot for an added 8GB.

The L870 is 13.5mm thick, it’s capable of 3.6Mbps HSDPA, it runs on Symbian 9.3, the latest version, and the third edition of S60 with Feature Pack 2.

It’s out in August but I’m sure some better phones will be too.
