Olympus was out in force at Digital Summer, showing off a line of their recent digital compact and SLR cameras. We’ve covered some of them already on Tech Digest, and most have been out for at least a couple of months, but it’s still worth taking a closer look.

This DSLR offers up a 20x wide optical zoom, 10 megapixel sensor, dual image stabilisation, sequential shooting at up to 13.5 fps, super macro mode, face detection, shadow adjustment, BrightCapture technology for low-light shooting, 23 preset scene modes, automated and manual settings. Unusually for a DSLR it runs on four AA batteries.

Olympus mju 850 SW

We looked at the mju 1030 SW a couple of months back. The mju 850 SW is also part of the “tough” range, boasting it’s shockproof to 1.5m, waterproof to 3m and freezeproof to -10°C.

It has an eight megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom, LED Macro illuminator, HyperCrystal LCD, face detection, shadow adjustment, BrightCapture technology, image stabilisation, and 24 scene modes.

It’s available now, priced £229.99.

Olympus FE Series

They all feature an eight megapixel sensor, up to 5x optical zoom, movie recording, face detection, image stabilisation, and super macro mode, plus video output.
