I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone giving St George’s Day presents, so if you have a particularly patriotic dad, you might want to stock up for Fathers’ Day now with this perfect dad gift.

This is the special edition Robomower RL1000 dubbed “Sir Cut A Lot” and this little slice of English robot lawnmowing heaven will brave the beast that is your back yard while you, well, while you do anything you like. You don’t even have to be there to turn him on.

Now, I was slightly concerned about Big Trak syndrome, where it takes you about two hours to programme it and 30 seconds for you to come back and find that all it’s doing is banging its head up against your garden fence, but apparently it’s fool proof.

Sir Cut A Lot comes with a wire attached to its basestation that you run around the edge of your lawn. Iit acts as a perimeter fence that your robotic chum will sense and know where to stop mowing. Fear not though gardeners, you won’t even see the wire after two or three days when the grass will have grown over and around it.

Once it’s set up, you programme in how often you’d like your garden mowed, set the cutting height and then that’s it. Forever.

You don’t even have to worry about the weather. If it starts to rain, your lawn-bot will about face and trundle itself back into the shed and where it’ll wait till its safe to cut again, and as for thieves, well, woe betide any foolish enough to take on the brave Sir Cut A Lot.

Apparently, the wily old campaigner is fixed with a “Theft-Guard Deterrent System”. Now, I’m not sure what that means but I’m picturing screams and a red sprayed lawn.

If you’re wondering whether Sir Cut A Lot’s for you, of course he is! What’s the matter man, are you proud of old Blighty or not? So long as your castle has no more than 2,000 square metres of grass, then this is the garden knight you’re after.

Sure he’ll cost you £1,599 but what price can one place on protecting one’s own private kingdom?
