xbox360rise.jpgMicrosoft’s European-wide Xbox 360 price slash last week has already started reaping benefits. UK 360 sales were up 40% this weekend, after Premium and Elite models were cut to £199 and £259 respectively and the Arcade to just £159.

It’ll be interesting to see whether the rise can be sustained in the face of the PS3/GT5:Prologue bundle released at the end of the month, but due to the early positive response, HMV spokesperson Gennaro Castaldo is confident sales will stay strong through the Easter period:

“That’s obviously fairly significant, given we didn’t have too much time to communicate it to our consumers. So with a lot more of the marketing kicking in now we expect it to grow even more in the coming days and weeks.”
