Sony introduces Cyber-Shot W300 with 13.6 megapixel sensor

As each year passes, that pixel count just keeps on rising, making us all feel like we need to constantly upgrade. My Leica compact now looks very weedy in comparison to the Sony Cyber-Shot W300 with 13.6 megapixel sensor (although it still looks far more stylish).

Aside from that sensor, the W300 offers a scratch-resistant titanium case, 2.7-inch LCD screen, 3x optical zoom, Smile Shutter (a smile prompts the snap), optical image stabiliser, intelligent scene recognition, ISO up to 6400, a burst mode and HD output for viewing your pictures on a HD-ready TV.

All that should be in the shops in May. No price as yet, although it’s likely to be more than the £175 equivalent quoted for the US market.
