Shiny Video Review: Tonium's Pacemaker DJ mixer

Please don’t laugh at my DJ skillz when you watch the video above. I mean it – I will know if you do, and my feelings will be hurt so much they’ll shatter and break into a million little pieces. I may not be the next Carl Cox, but Tonium’s Pacemaker DJ mixer was so much fun to review, anyone who’s interested in electronic music and especially in creating music themselves should definitely check out this video review, and then the actual product itself, when it launches early March.

It will retail for £400, and will make a fine addition to your decks and mixer, otherwise as a cool toy to show off in the loos down at Fabric or whatever trendy nightclub is in fashion these days.

  • I own an Hercules DJ Console (mk2 model) for PC.
I use virtual dj (aka atomix) .
(If you ever had, for some period of time, you probably faced a few crashes in the software… )
devices like this … or the numark d2 (d squared) or director I believe, have come down in size… but honestly in features too…
I’m not convinced that this product is … usable in a real life “party” environment…
but I would most certainly opt in for the “demo-unit”!!!
could be cool if used “on the side” for creating loops to vinyl along with… but then again, If I’m going to buy a product like this, I think it should be “like the real deal” on it’s own…

with the design of the unit, when I first saw it on gizmodo a few months back, I had hoped for the “middle” section to be the LCD screen, and 2 jogwhells. but this is a smart idea too… (should a made a squared screen on the top part instead.. but still..great device)

it’s not convincing enough to shed 400 (pounds) on it!

… I believe this will be the main thing…

.. unless we get a “try it 30 days for free and return it free (+shipping+handling)… kinda deal..

Great review all in all.. but that showed that the interface is not exactly… intuitive..
“slide tap left right .. with the alt button and all… hehe … where’s my darn turntable!!! “

  • I Can’t wait to get my hands on this overpriced thing. Unbelievable it has made it past it’s vapourware status. Great! Now send us a demo-unit! 😉

  • Nice video! The hi cut/low cut is a filter, and you don’t have to have the P-button upwards when you change channel. Happy DJing!
