Neck-based PC is a TiVo for your daily life

Microsoft is currently holding a Next-Gen PC Design Competition, possibly in an effort to dissuade people from being nasty about Vista. Pick of the entries so far is the Momenta PC, which looks like a futuristic necklace (albeit a big one), but actually works as a personal life recorder.

Wha? Well, it’s got a camera that’s constantly recording what’s in front of you, but it also measures your pulse rate. When you get excited about something, it automatically saves the previous five minutes’ footage for you to review later. “Whether it’s an exciting sports experience, a funny social scene, the scene of an accident, etc, you can capture it and share it,” says the blurb.

I’m assuming that’s comedy accidents in a You’ve Been Framed stylee, rather than rubbernecking car accidents or watching your child burn themselves on a kettle. The device runs using Microsoft’s SLIM operating system, and has Wi-Fi built in to automatically connect to the web when in range of a network (i.e. don’t wear it when having sex at home).
