Brando claims their portable DVD drive is perfect for Eee PC or MacBook Air. O RLY?

Yes, I am as confused as you are.

At $78, it won’t break the bank if you purchase one and it isn’t compatible with your Linux or Apple OS, however I’d still recommend only those with Vista, XP or Windows 2000 indulge, just in case.

With read speeds up to 24x and write speeds up to 10x, it weighs just 314g and measures 13.7cm x 13.3cm x 1.8cm. Which is only just smaller than your Eee PC.

  • Even though I found it not warm enough for 15F, I had to wear few layers underneath, my boyfriend found it fine. We found it is very convenient when we go outdoors.

  • A lot of USB external drives can be used on the Mac with OS X even if they’re not supposed to be compatible. Same with a number of other peripherals. Often the manufacturers have only tested them on Windows boxes, and so that’s what they stamp on the box, but they’ll work with other configurations.

I’m not just saying that to sound like Macs are amazing – some stuff just won’t work at all, or it needs some obscure hacks to get it to go. Think some webcams and Sony music players.
