Sony upgrades Vaio specifications for 2008 – Intel Core 2 Duo processors added

Sony has upgraded its Vaio range for 2008, adding the Intel Core 2 Duo processor to a number of models, as well as improving general specifications to other products.

The Vaio AR60-Series with Blu-Ray now has an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor, 4GB of SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT GPU and 512MB of dedicated VRAM. That’s alongside the17-inch WUXGA widescreen display, integrated hybrid DVB-T digital/analogue tuner and a remote control.

The Vaio FZ30-Series now combines 4GB SDRAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 processor, plus 15.4-inch WXGA screen and a Dual Layer Blu-ray Disc drive. The Vaio SZ70-Series has an Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 processor, extended battery life of over 5 hours, integrated HSDPA WWLAN and a widescreen X-black LCD enhanced display. A special edition of the SZ70 has 4GB SDRAM and a 250GB hard disk.

The Vaio CR30-Series now has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (choice of T8100 or T8300), integrated 1.3 megapixel Motion Eye webcam, an AV Mode (watch films on DVD or play audio CDs without needing to start Windows) and a widescreen WXGA display. The Vaio TP2 Home Entertainment Centre features both an Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 processor and a Blu-ray Disc combo drive for playing HD movies either on a PC display or on an HD Ready TV via the TP2’s HDMI connection. There’s also a hybrid DVB-T digital/analogue tuner and 500GB hard disk if you want to use it as a PVR.
