No longer the functional item for backing up your data, the external drive has gone designer, courtesy of The Hard Disk from LaCie.

Designer by noted creative bloke Neil Poulton, the 3.5-inch drive is available in capacities of 320GB, 500GB, 750GB and 1TB, with features including an ‘ambient glow’ from the bottom of the drive, polished black finish, heat dissipation using natural airflow (which means no need for a fan and associated noise), USB 2.0 connectivity and plug and play set-up on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and Mac OS X.

Pre-loaded with LaCie’s ‘1-Click’ backup software for PC and Mac and Setup Assistant for backing up, it will sell from £69.
