T-Mobile selling unlocked iPhones in Germany for 999 Euros

iphone-unlocked-germany.gifNo sooner has Vodafone won a court injunction to prevent T-Mobile selling the iPhone in Germany, then T-Mobile has responded with an announcement that it’ll sell unlocked iPhones to get around the ruling.

They won’t come cheap though: you’ll have to pay 999 Euros (about £720) to get an unlocked iPhone, which is presumably to deter all but the keenest consumers from taking advantage of the offer.

The decision is based purely on the German court ruling, so don’t expect O2 to follow suit in the UK unless a similar case goes against them here. But it’ll be interesting to see if there’s a big demand for an unlocked iPhone at that price, and whether this affects Apple’s strategy elsewhere in the world.
